Pre-K Academic Objectives:

 

Bible:

The student will be able to-

-        memorize simple Bible verses

-        sing several Bible songs

-        understand that the Bible is the word of God

-        pray independently and recite memorized prayers

-        identify familiar Bible characters and retell Bible stories

 

Math:

The student will be able to-

-        sort and classify objects by color, shape, and size

-        draw a picture to represent data

-        understand concepts of yesterday, today, and tomorrow

-        identify and draw 2dimensional shapes

-        use position words to describe the relative location of objects

-        recognize and extend a two-part pattern

-        order 3 objects by size

-        explore concepts of more, less and equal

-        count sets of objects and recognize numbers up to10

-        correctly form numbers up to 10

-        measure length, height, and weight with non-standard units of measurement

-        identifies basic colors

 

Reading:

The student will be able to-

-        explore books independently

-        retell stories through drama, orally, or with pictures

-        begin to make connections to and among text

-        ask and answer questions, make predictions, identify characters in a text read aloud

-        listen to and participate in read alouds

-        recognize environmental print

-        recognize rhyme

-        begin to identify the sounds of all letters

-        correctly form uppercase letters

-        begin to match upper and lowercase letters

-        uses pictures, scribbles, oral language, and /or letters to tell stories, explain, or respond to text

-        can correctly print name using capital letters

 

Science:

The student will be able to-

-        understand that God made everything

-        recognize a variety of domestic/wild animals and their sounds

-        match animal parents and their young

-        identify daily weather and observable changes in the seasons

-        use and identify the importance of personal hygiene

-        sort healthy and unhealthy foods

-        identify common safety measures for school, car, home, and play

 

Social Skills:

The student will be able to-

-        say please, thank you, you’re welcome, excuse me, yes/no sir/ma’am

-        dress and undress self

-        use the potty independently

-        wash and dry hands

-        correctly hold scissors and cut on straight and curved lines

-        follow 1 or 2 step oral directions

-        listen politely without interrupting

-        focus on the person who is speaking

-        shake hands

 

Social Studies:
